  • Our children are loving being part of Forest School!

    Thu 08 Feb 2024 KHambleton

The word in the community is that our children are loving being part of Forest School, delivered by our own trained staff at school. A lot of planning goes into this curriculum provision, from training to planning, to resourcing to risk assessments and policies. The children have developed in resilience and confidence and for some children who maybe find more traditional classroom learning harder - they have blossomed and shone. A truly inclusive experience. Thank you tom our parents and PTFA in supporting this. Take a look at our Forest School newsletter for more information.

  • Year 5 perform at Derby Cathedral

    Sun 07 Jan 2024 KHambleton

Year 5 have been very lucky to be take part in a special Christmas concert in aid of Rainbows at Derby Cathedral, a truly beautiful setting. With expert tuition, all our year 5 pupils learnt a fabulous and rousing selection of songs which were performed at school for our parents and then 30 of our children joined other schools and local musicians at the charity event. It was a truly heart warming experience. The whole audience performing Twelve Days of Christmas with actions, in groups will be a memory that lasts a life time (and one we replicated back at school with the parents!) #community #thepowerofmusic

  • Year 3 concert

    Sun 07 Jan 2024

I can honestly say that the comments from staff, pupils and parents when experiencing this concert were overwhelming. What a true experience of creativity, inclusivity, celebration of others and embracing different cultures. We experienced sign language, story telling, music, Spanish singing and songs about diversity, inclusion and celebration. I have to admit...it brought a tear to my eye. Well done Year 3!

  • Visit by local MP Pauline Latham

    Sun 07 Jan 2024 KHambleton

At Lawn Primary we talk to the children on a regular basis about the importance of citizenship, living in a democracy, our individual liberty, along with the other British Values of responsibility, tolerance and Rule of Law. With having an active school parliament and council, it is important our children understand the reality of their responsibility and meet people who play a valuable part in the democracy within our community and reaffirm the fact that they can have a positive impact on our world if they put their mind to it. We are always grateful therefore to welcome Pauline Latham, local MP in to school to talk to the children about her role and the part they can play. #responsibility #democracy

  • PCSO visit - discussing the dangers of knife crime

Sun 19 Nov 2023 Karen Hambleton

Our local PCSO is always at hand to give our children useful and relevant information at an age appropriate level on topics that educate our children and teach them how to keep safe. This week Year 6 had a session on knife crime, its dangers and how we can make good choices. These sessions are always very informative - it is crucial we ensure our young adults have the tools they need for the next stage in their lives.

  • Children in Need

Sun 19 Nov 2023 Karen Hambleton

The school and class parliament always make the decisions regarding who we support through special events and charitable donations. Children in Need is always a firm favourite! As always the children pulled out all the stops. What a wonderful atmosphere as the children 'strutted' down the 'catwalk' in their Pudsey creations. Well done to our winners...but ultimately the children they we will have helped makes us all winners.

Sun 19 Nov 2023 Karen Hambleton

Happy Diwali to our friends who celebrate...

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about Diwali. They spoke of the joys of learning about different cultures, religions and festivals and how they enjoyed being creative at the same time. The children spoke about and demonstrated our values of respect and empathy and the British Value of individual liberty.
