  • DIVERSITY DAY!

Mon 13 Feb 2023 Karen Hambleton

As part of our Global Citizenship curriculum, the children at Lawn learn about many aspects of the world relating to diversity, inclusion, equality and belonging. Topics challenge stereotypes, consider rights, make links to the United Nations and teach our pupils how to be good citizens while learning about the world. Our school also celebrates the numerous languages, various heritages and religions - as we did last Friday through our Diversity Day. It was wonderful to see all the children attend school dressed 'as them', ranging from club uniforms, traditional dress, favourite items and people they support or admire. There was a true sense of belonging and it spoke volumes that all our children felt safe and secure enough to be who they are while celebrating our 'unique' self. Pupils created posters and power point presentations and even voice notes and interviews. #individual liberty #tolerance #respect

  • Safer Internet Week

Mon 13 Feb 2023 Karen Hambleton

We all understand how important it is for our children to learn how to behave in a safe way and feel safe both off and on line. The pupils at Lawn learn about E-safety through assemblies, the use of Purple Mash lessons, PSHE curriculum and during Internet Safety Week. Last week the children learnt more about this vital topic through visitors to school and activities in class. Some pupils had a talk delivered by a parent of the school who works in this field and others had a theatre group and workshops. Talking to the children it was clear that they understood how to keep themselves safe at an age appropriately level and how they have a voice, to speak out if the see or hear something that they do not feel comfortable with.

  • Young Voices 2023!

Wed 01 Feb 2023 Karen Hambleton

What an incredible experience the children had performing at Young Voices! The choir had been working extremely hard to be vocally and movement ready, giving up there time after school and developing themselves personally. The concert was just wonderful - to see and hear so many children join together through the power of music - 5690 of them to be exact! Lawn pupils showed respect of the event, the arena, others, expectations all day and evening....and they had a lot of fun too! Role on 2024!!
