Fri 30 Sep 2022 Karen Hambleton

We have had some wonderful news today! Due to our excellent music curriculum, our work with local musicians and teachers and the engagement of our pupils, we have been awarded the Music Mark. This means we are now a MUSIC MARK SCHOOL! This is due to the commitment of all our staff, our music lead but equally the dedication and enjoyment that our pupils show towards music, with the support of their families. #developing the whole child.

Mon 19 Sep 2022 Karen Hambleton

This week we had a visit in assembly from one of our music teachers. We are very lucky to have a number of teachers who provide tutoring in a wide range of instruments, including string, woodwind, piano, drums, keyboard, brass, recorder. At Lawn we value music and have excellent partnerships with our teachers, Derby Music Partnership and Rock Steady. The choir is also excited to be representing Lawn at Young Voices 2023! Here Mrs Reeve is demonstrating a variety of instruments available for your child to learn at school. The pupils were so appreciative too....with cheers and claps after every piece she played! Absolutely.....music is there is inspire and be enjoyed.

  • Take a look at our Year 1 setting!

Tue 06 Sep 2022 Karen Hambleton

The staff in Year 1 have been busy over the summer, creating a lovely environment to ensure the pupils have the opportunity to explore, gain independence and continue their love of learning. The new design is a perfect step from FS2 and creates so many opportunities for 1:1 teacher/pupil discussion about learning as well as being nurturing and calm.

  • Our Early years (FS2) setting

Tue 06 Sep 2022 Karen Hambleton

Our children deserve the best...a place where they feel safe, can explore, take safe risks, be independent and resilient. A place where they gain a love of learning! This is why over the past few months the staff have worked tirelessly to give the setting a fresh look, based on research as to what works well for our youngest children. Take a look at our photographs!
