Year 6

Year 6 is a very exciting year. The teachers who have the pleasure in seeing the children of Year 6 grow and prosper are Miss Hendy and Mr Wilkins, supported by Teaching Assistant Mrs Brown.

The children have reached the top of Lawn Primary and now they have many fun responsibilities in leading their peers and running the school. As their teachers, it is our intention to prepare all children for secondary school through increasing their independence, leadership opportunities and academic success.  Learning expectations are very high as we prepare to send them off in July, ‘secondary ready’.

Some of the highlights in year 6 are:

Summer term trip to PGL. We often see the children grow in confidence and show increased levels of determination to succeed. When the children return to school they are able to use some of their new skills and apply them to their learning in the classroom and then use these as they move to their secondary schools.

The study of the Tudors during the Summer term, including studying Shakespeare.

The summer term sees the children working towards their national assessments (SATs) and honing their examination skills.
